About the Recipe
These sweet treats combine chocolatey goodness with the healthy properties of nuts to give a treat which is both decadent and (slightly) healthy.
Ingredients
1â…“Â cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
¾ cup baking cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ cup chopped nuts
⅔ cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten (see notes)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts, optional
Preparation
Preheat oven to 180°C.
In a bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. In another bowl, combine oil, eggs and vanilla; add to dry ingredients. Do not overmix.
Spread in a 32x22cm baking pan.
Sprinkle with nuts if desired.
Bake 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean.
Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
